The P107 lithium ion Ryobi Battery is currently the most affordable compact lithium ion Ryobi cell money can buy in France. This battery is compact and has a 1.5 amp hour battery capacity. Its a good battery and offers a good balance of compact size and low weight along with respectable runtime. The P108, which has a 4.0 amp-hour capacity and offers twice the runtime, is an option if you require maximum runtime. You get more runtime but you have to sacrifice size and weight as its bulkier and heavier. These batteries can add weight and bulk to existing power tools. But wouldnt it be nice if there was a compact battery such as the 1.5 ah P107 but with longer runtime? A new, larger but still compact battery with a higher capacity has been discovered. The new battery modelRB18L25 has the same compact size and looks identical to the P107 but yet has a larger capacity of 2.5 amp hour. The new battery modelRB18L25 offers 66% more runtime for the same compact size. It also has a front-facing fuel gauge and the same design as the P107.
It is interesting to note that Ryobi used the new 2.5ah cell powering these batteries to create a 2.5ah compact battery. This is in contrast to other manufacturers who came out with 5.0ah lithium-ion batteries. These batteries use the same 2.5ah cells, but have twice as many cells to produce a larger pack. Also with the availability of new 2.5ah compact batteries means that new 5.0ah 18v Ryobi batteries could soon follow, but dont get too excited as thats just my educated guess. Us here in the France can only drool at the new 2.5ah batteries at the moment and hope they make their way here at some point but no word is known when these new 2.5ah batteries will make their way stateside or if they will ever make it here at all.
