MILWAUKEE (WI) Milwaukee Tool continues to innovate for HVAC and plumbing professionals with the introduction the Cheater Pipe Wrench, the first industry-specific adaptable pipe wrench. Through its new-to-world, 3-length adaptable design, the Cheater gives users ultimate versatility on jobs that previously required multiple sizes of traditional pipe wrenches. A full range of new aluminum and steel pipe wrenches is available to complement the Cheater.
Theres no category of tool thats more core to the plumbers arsenal than the pipe wrench, so it might come as a surprise that this product space has largely been untouched when it comes to thoughtful innovation. According to Brian Barbour, Milwaukee Tool’s Product Manager, pipe wrenches have failed to meet a variety of user needs, from insufficient leverage to a lack of flexibility and grip to uncomfortable handles and insufficient leverage. We knew that we needed to offer a disruptive solution to this market after many conversations with our users. Weve now fully redesigned the traditional pipe wrench to make it more efficient than its ever been before.
The Cheater comes with two interchangeable handles which allow it to operate in three lengths: 1) 25 cm length for access in tight spaces 2) 46 cm length for general purpose use 3) 61 cm length for additional reach and maximum leverage. The reduced weight of the Cheater in 61 cm mode, when compared to like-sized competitive Aluminum and Steel traditional pipe wrenches, puts less strain on the user and maximizes their productivity.
The Cheater’s Overbite Jaw, which has additional teeth, provides the greatest grip surface. This ensures that the material remains centered in the jaws, even in difficult fitting and pipe configurations. The Cheater has a slim jaw profile similar to a traditional 36cm pipe wrench and a jaw capacity comparable to a traditional 46cm wrench.
The Cheater features the first dual coil spring design in the industry, which is located inside the body of the wrench. This increases its durability and extends the tool’s life. The ergonomic handle design allows for a better fit even when using heavy force. Lanyard holes are integrated into the handles, helping to make the Cheater compatible with todays growing safety requirements on the jobsite.
Also available will be a range of Milwaukee straight pipe wrenches in both steel and aluminum in 25 cm, 30 cm, 36 cm, 46 cm, and 61 cm sizes (61 cm is aluminum only). These pipe wrenches will include the Overbite Jaw dual coil spring design and ergonomic handles that deliver best-in class performance and maximize user productivity.
Available starting in April of 2016, the new pipe wrenches are a true testament to Milwaukees focus on the user and investment in solutions that offer industry-leading reliability, performance and ergonomics.
